Creating a Compelling College Application

Below is the description of an upcoming webinar from a group that has invited us to take part in their free webinars this year. These two dates will focus on the College Application.  It’s especially useful for parents of current 10th and 11th graders. In addition, we’re hosting them for our final meeting of the year, June 6th.  The topic will be “Community Service” and we hope to get a description out sometime next week.

The presenters are from https://standoutforcollege.com/ and while this is not a PTA-sponsored program, we feel it’s useful information for parents to have. So, just an FYI.

Creating a Compelling College Application

This program is specifically designed for students finishing their junior year of high school and their parents, however it will be helpful for current sophomores to attend as it will give them a good understanding of the college admissions process to know what to focus on in the upcoming year.

We will cover the college application process including current admissions trends, writing the personal statement essay and supplemental essays, teacher recommendations, and how students can position themselves to increase their chances for admission. This program is a detailed and strategic overview of what students should focus on to make their college applications stand out.

Please share this link and password with any member families who you think might benefit from the program. As this current college admissions cycle has been the most challenging to date, parents and their high school children are aware and concerned about this topic.

DATES: Wed. April 27th and Tues. May 17th. Both meetings will be held at 7pm on Zoom. Please check your EHS PTA email for the links or email us at eastchesterhighschoolpta@gmail.com and we will send them to you.

Thank you,
