We heard from teachers who received PTA grants last year and how they were used to enhance and support student learning and experiences. Mrs. Stipo talked about the brand-new FBLA Club and Ms. de Rham spoke about her weaving materials and lessons with her art students. Ms. Sydlowski brought an artist-in-residence program in and Mrs. Meyers took the lead on getting a giant inflatable screen for her WISE students’ internship presentation, which was later used for the EHS Film Festival, 9th grade movie night and will continue to be used at Eastchester High School. The PTA and EHS Staff will continue to work together for the benefit of the students at EHS.
Dr. Capuano spoke on a number of topics: Career in Business Night, 11/17, Players Club 11/19 and 11/20, report cards, yearbook orders and lockers. Especially important were COVID concerns and effects on students, the importance of socializing and his efforts to assist students in accessing academic support in areas where needed. This was followed by a lengthy discussion on STEM at the HS level. The PTA will host our new STEM Supervisor Minnie Ianuzzi at our next meeting on Jan 20th.
